Obituary of Sylvia Koetsier

KOETSIER, Sylvia; A resident of RR#4 Chatham, Sylvia Koetsier (nee Riem), passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Campus on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the age of 80. Born in Harlingen, The Netherlands, daughter of the late Hendrik & Grietje Riem. Beloved wife of the late Cornelius “Cor” Koetsier (1998). Loving mother to Mary Joan & Maurice Wathy of Chatham, Martin Koetsier of Chatham, and Anita Brown of Chatham. Cherished grandmother to Cody, Nathan Brown, Evan, Mitchell Koetsier, and Emma Wathy. Sister to Jopie & Jack La Rooy of Belgium, Ciska Riem of Holland, and Marie & Piet Blumers of Holland. Sister-in-law to Teun (Ank) Koetsier, Maarten Koetsier, Rina Koetsier, and Ger Supheert. Predeceased by step-mom Lena Houtman-Reim, Nita Koetsier, Huib (Lena) Koetsier, Anna (Piet) Timmerman, Ali (Roel) Floor, Jaan (Henk) Dam, Jan Koetsier, Co Supheert, Dit Koetsier, and Adrian (Hermiena) Koetsier. Forever missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Holland, Canada, and the United States. Sylvia was a member of the First Reformed Church, and the Active Lifestyle Centre where she enjoyed playing carpet bowling. Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at the First Reformed Church 632 Lacroix Street, Chatham on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Pieter Schinkelshoek officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
