Obituary of Adrian Smit

SMIT: Adrian. A lifelong resident of Chatham, Adrian Smit died suddenly at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Monday November 14, 2011 at the age of 43. Born in Chatham on February 22, 1968, beloved son of Ben & Irene Smit of Chatham. Loving husband of Jennifer (Gales) Smit, and cherished father of Jocelyn & Chad. Dear brother of Rose & Tom Landschoot of Jeanette’s Creek, Bernard Smit of London, Christine & Tim Charron of Chatham, and brother-in-law of Jeff & Leona Gales of Sault Ste. Marie. Adrian will be lovingly remembered by Jennifer’s parents Betty & Larry Thurston and Gordon & Lucie Gales; all of Chatham, as well as several aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family. An X-Ray Technician, he worked with the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for over 20 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1412. Adrian enjoyed many summers playing in the Maple City Slo-Pitch League. Most of all, he was a loving and devoted husband and father. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 52 Croydon Street, Chatham on Friday November 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Daniel Bombardier celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Anthony Cemetery.
