Obituary of T.E.W. MacPherson

MacPherson: Dr. T.E.W. A longtime resident of Chatham, Dr. MacPherson died peacefully at his residence on Monday December 5, 2011. Born in Alva, Scotland, 71 years ago, son of the late John & Elizabeth MacPherson. Beloved husband of 42 years to Carole MacPherson. Loving and devoted father of Gail & Colin McGregor, Alexandra & Matthew Zivanov, all of Chatham, and Ewan MacPherson & Jennifer Jackson of Calgary. Cherished grandfather of Alec and Fiona McGregor, Rory, Zoë, and Eaun Zivanov. Brother of Sheelagh Rose Short (Steve) of France, and brother-in-law of Sheena Hyslop and Frances Steven (James), all of the United Kingdom. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Dr. MacPherson was a dedicated and respected family physician and coroner in Chatham for over 35 years. For many of those years he acted as Medical Director of Thamesview Lodge and later Riverview Gardens. Earlier on he was a Captain in the Parachute Regiment of the British Army, received his medical training, and graduated from Glasgow University in 1966. In 1972, he and Carole came to Canada, making Chatham their home a few years later. Away from work, he most enjoyed the annual salmon fishing trips to Labrador, or basking in the sun on Sanibel Island in Florida. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday December 9, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Family will gather for a private funeral service.
