VanderGriendt, Hendricus (Henry) John, a resident of Ridgetown, passed away peacefully at his home in Ridgetown on Sunday December 25, 2011 at the age of 89. Born in Rotterdam, Holland the son of the late Hendricus & Johanna (Volking) VanderGriendt. Beloved husband of the late Maria Helena (Thiesen) VanderGriendt (2003). Predeceased by daughter Deanna Timmermans (1998) and infant son Bobby (1961). Dear father of Anne (Fred) Stallaert, Komoka; Liz McDonald, Ridgetown; Aggie VanderGriendt, Ridgetown; Frank (Charlene) VanderGriendt, Waterloo; Henry (Kathy) VanderGriendt, Ridgetown; Jim (Corinne) VanderGriendt, Edmonton, Alberta; Tony (Sherry) VanderGriendt, Lethbridge, Alberta; Ben (Pat) VanderGriendt, Ridgetown; Wilma ( Mike) Hay, Ridgetown; and Lucy (Jeff) Brown, London. Great Grandfather of 26. Father-in-law of Leo (Jill) Timmermans, Erieau. Survived by brother Ben (Agnes) VanderGriendt, Tillsonburg and sisters Reik, Toos, Ria, Hennie and Agnes all of Holland; sisters-in-law Anna (Wilma) Thiesen, Ridgetown and Reit VanderGriendt, Guelph. Predeceased by sister Annie and brothers John and Willy as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law. Mr. VanderGriendt was past Vice-President and General Manager of Tube Turns of Canada, Ridgetown; past Chairman of the St. Michaels Cemetery Board; a member of St. Michaels Church Choir for 40 years and an avid gardener. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St., E., Ridgetown on Wednesday December 28, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Ridgetown on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Michaels Cemetery, Howard Township.
