Obituary of Gerardus 'Jerry' Vink

VINK: Gerardus “Jerry”. A resident of Chatham, Jerry Vink died peacefully at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Wednesday February 8, 2012 at the age of 89. Born in The Netherlands, son of the late Gerardus & Gertruida (VanLeeuwen) Vink. Beloved husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Eys) Vink for over 56 years. Cherished father of Gerry Vink Jr. & wife Lisa of Tilbury, Jim Vink & wife Ruth of Southwold Township, Trudy Reekers & husband Pat of Woodslee, Tom Vink & wife Brenda of Thamesville, Dan Vink & wife Debb of Ridgetown, Paul Vink & wife Connie of London, David Vink & wife Peggy of Thamesville, and Carl Vink & wife Lisa of London. Proud and loving Opa of 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Jan Vink and Ploon Rochar, both in Holland, and the late Piet Vink. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Jerry was predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth (Wijsman) Vink in 1952. He farmed for many years in Orford Township before retiring to Chatham in 1996. He was a longtime member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, and had been a member of the Active Lifestyle Centre and the Chatham Lawn Bowling Club. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Parish Prayers will be offered at the Funeral Home on Friday at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 52 Croydon Street, Chatham on Saturday February 11, 2012 at 1:30 pm with Fr. Daniel Bombardier celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Donations in memory of Jerry to the Lung Association or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
