Obituary of Roy A. Jewell

JEWELL, Roy A.: A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Harwich Township, Roy Jewell passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of 52 years to Joanne (Barclay) Jewell. Dear father of Rodney Jewell of Thornton, and Jeffrey and Nancy Jewell of Bracebridge. Dear grandfather of Shae-lynn Jewell and Corey Jewell of Tupperville, and Emma Jewell and Brandon Vincent of Bracebridge. Dear brother-in-law of George and Joanne Barclay of Ridgetown, Rosemarie and Tootsie Mitchell of Tilbury, and Mike Barclay and the late Gloria Barclay of Exeter. Remembered by several nieces and nephews. Roy was a Past Master and current member of the Tecumseh Sydenham Lodge in Thamesville, a member of the Chatham Lodge of Perfection, the Kent Chapter Rose Croix, Mocha Shriners in London, and Ahcom Shrine Club in Chatham. He also served as board member and secretary of the former Kent Bridge United Church. Roy retired from Chatham Coach Lines and Laidlaw, after 45 years of service. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Masonic service will take place Sunday evening at 6:30 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Hawkins and Rev. Bill Fahrner officiating. Interment to follow at Botany Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Roy to the Arthritis Society (rheumatoid) or the Shriners Children’s Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
