Obituary of Cornelis Bakker

BAKKER: Cornelis “Cor” – A resident of Blenheim, Cor Bakker passed away at his residence, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the age of 78. Born in Alkmaar, The Netherlands, Cor was the son of the late Jan and Gepke (Van De Woude) Bakker. Beloved husband of Johanna Bakker (Houweling). Cor was predeceased by his first wife Doreen (nee Postma) (2000). Loving father of John Bakker (Cindy) of Chatham, Janet Phillips (Julian Savoie) of Chatham and Otto Bakker (Lisa Holmes) of Blenheim. Dearly missed by Johanna’s children Tony Houweling (Lanette), Rick Houweling (Pam), Ken Houweling, Rob Houweling (Patsi), Carol Pepper (Terry), Don Houweling (Madeline), Chris Houweling (Melissa) and Peter Houweling (Angel). Proud grand father and great-grandfather of numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Cor had been a member of Blenheim Christian Reformed Church since he had first emigrated to Canada in 1956. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Blenheim Christian Reformed Church, 286 Chatham Street South, Blenheim at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 with Pastor Frank DeBoer officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim. Donations made in memory of Cor to the Arthritis Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
