Obituary of David Holmes

HOLMES: David Leonard. A resident of Chatham, David Holmes passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the age of 78. Born in Blenheim, son of the late Clarence and Isabelle (Green) Holmes. Beloved husband of Joyce (Druean) Holmes. Dear father of Carol Campbell and her husband Kim of Chatham, David Holmes and his wife Elaine of Etobicoke, Dianne Chute and Rob Harwood of Sarnia, and Scott Holmes of McGregor. Grandfather of Kelly Bear (Tony), Rob Campbell, Mark Campbell, Mitchell Holmes, Daniel Chute, Ryan Chute, Meghan Holmes, and Kaiden Holmes. Great-grandfather of Bryce Bear, Sadie Bear, and Adalie Bear. Brother of Doug and Grace Holmes of Blenheim, Marie Steel of Blenheim, Doris Snobelen of Ajax, and the late Edwin (Hap) Holmes, and Hugh Holmes. Brother-in-law of Margaret Goldhawk (Lyle) of Blenheim. Dave will also be remembered by Marie Holmes of Chatham. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. David’s family was the most important thing in his life. He had a tremendous amount of love and pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dave was a longtime member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #628, Chatham. He began his career at Donaldson’s (Fram), and drove truck for Husband Transport for 21 years, and retired from Customized Transportation. A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at Royal Canadian Legion Branch #628, 39 William St. N., Chatham on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
