Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Attridge

ATTRIDGE: Mary Elizabeth (nee Colquhoun)- A resident of Wardsville, and formerly of Highgate, Mary Attridge passed away at the Babcock Community Care Centre, Wardsville on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the age of 92. Born in Aldborough Township, Mary was the daughter of the late Angus and Lena (Ashton) Colquhoun. Beloved wife of 62 years to the late Wallace Attridge (2004). Loving mother of Nancy and Mike Mahoney of Urbana, Illinois and Carol and Leo Caron of Muirkirk. Proud grandmother of Jeffrey Caron (Amy) of Duart, Barbara Spiers (Chris) of St. Catharines, Bradley Mahoney (Kendra) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Heather Grob (Keith) of Philo, Illinois and Jeff Mahoney (Stacy) of Atlanta, Georgia. Great-grandmother to Chelsea and Devon Spiers, Avery Caron, Patrick and Nora Mahoney, Bailey and Isabel Grob and Meghan Mahoney. Predeceased by her brother John Colquhoun (1987). Special aunt to Jane Chute, Ian Colquhoun and daughters Maggie and Mary Beth Colquhoun. Mary belonged to the UCW, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School to numerous children over her many years at Lee’s United Church and eventually the Highgate United Church. She also attended the Normal School in London and taught school for a few years in Wardsville. Mary loved her family and cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street.East, Ridgetown on Friday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 with Rev. Mary Elford officiating. Interment to follow at Gosnell Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Mary to the Babcock Resident’s Council (no tax receipt) or the Turin United Church would be appreciated.
