Obituary of Lenore Fletcher

Fletcher, Lenore. A resident of Chatham, Lenore Fletcher passed away at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance on May 24, 2012 at the age of 72 after a brief struggle with cancer. Born in Raleigh Township on September 14, 1939, daughter of the late Ivan (1991) and Ruth (1973) Stevenson. Predeceased by stepmother Sylvia Stevenson (1995). Wife of Robert Fletcher. Mother of Keith (Margaret) of Huntsville and Kathy Davidson (Mike) of Chatham. Grandchildren Elizabeth and Sarah Fletcher of Huntsville, Jennifer Almeida (Lou) of Kitchener, Corey Davidson (Michelle) of Toronto, and great grandchildren Daniel and Gil Almeida of Kitchener. Sister of Sandra Skipper (John) of Fletcher, and sister-in-law of Jeanne Butchart (Ian) of North Bay. Survived by nieces and nephews Dale Skipper, Beverlee Griffith (Jeff), Shawn Butchart (Tricia), Shannon Butchart (Matt), Susan Vlasschaert (Frank), Steve Fletcher (Linda) and great-nieces and nephews Samara, Judah and Ephraim Skipper, Krysten and Brent Griffith, Breanne Butchart and Bradley and Blake Vlasschaert. Lenore had many friends and was a member and elder at First Presbyterian Church, Chatham. She served on the Christian Education Committee and in various other leadership roles and especially enjoyed working with young people. Music was an important and enjoyable part of Lenore’s life. She played piano and organ at local funeral homes, the Chatham Organ Society, the Rotary Club of Chatham (receiving a Paul Harris Award), nursing homes and taught music lessons. She also played for sing-songs whenever the opportunity arose. Lenore will be remembered as a caring and compassionate person who never missed the opportunity to send a card or note of encouragement or congratulations. The family would like to thank Dr. Jason Denys, the staff at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance and everyone who sent cards, e-mails, flowers or other acts of kindness. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday May 27th & Monday May 28th from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Services for Lenore will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 60 Fifth Street, Chatham, on Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Michael Maroney officiating. Interment Stewart Cemetery, Merlin. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the First Presbyterian Church Breakfast Program or the charity of your choice.
