Obituary of Aaron De Meester

DE MEESTER: Aaron, A resident of Chatham, Aaron Gray De Meester passed away suddenly on June 22, 2012 at the age of 61. Born in London, Aaron is the son of Marguerite Hackett and the late Don Hackett and Albert and Betty De Meester. Loving husband of 36 years to Mary Lou (Van Damme) De Meester. Dear father of Aaron and Kim De Meester of Blenheim, April and Jerry Wilson of Stoney Point, Angela De Meester of Blenheim and Adam and Leah De Meester of Burlington. Dear grandfather of Blake Wilson and James De Meester. Dear brother of Amber De Meester and Goran Perica of California and Harvey and Angela McKay of Chatham. Cherished uncle of Mariah and Brenden McKay. Aaron was a passionate fighter for workers rights, pensioners and senior citizens. He was a retiree of Siemens, president for the C.A.W. 127 Retirees’ Chapter, a delegate to the Governor General Canadian Leadership Conference, and former president of the Chatham-Kent Labour Council. Aaron served on various boards in the area including the United Way Board of Directors. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Tuesday, June 26 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A private family funeral service will be held at a later date.
