Obituary of Marion Coates

COATES: Marion Ethel (Nuttall). Surrounded by family, Marion passed away peacefully at Riverview Gardens, Chatham at the age of 86. Born in Toronto, Ontario, daughter of the late Harry and Ann (Wilson) Nuttall. Beloved wife of 52 years to the late Rev. Lloyd John Coates. Loving mother of David Coates (Kathey) of London, Elizabeth Tithecott (Gary) of Chatham, Paul Coates of Stratford, and Margaret Timson (Brian) of Lexington, Kentucky. Cherished grandmother of Debra Leidet, Pamela Coates, Christine Tithecott, Michael Tithecott and Marlena Feiertag. Dear great-grandmother of Nicholas and Madison Leidet, Anna, Jacob, and Sara Coates. Predeceased by her brothers Wilson Nuttall and Douglas Nuttall. Marion was a Registered Nurse, receiving her training at the Wellesley School of Nursing and was a Graduate of the University of Toronto. She was on the teaching staff of the Wellesley Hospital and later in St. Thomas and Owen Sound. Marion’s life was committed to serving in Christian ministry along side her husband during all his charges in Hearst, Avon, Crampton, Harriestville, London, St.Thomas, Owen Sound, Sarnia, Merlin, Fletcher and Dover Centre. Marion always lived by putting God first, others second, and herself last. Marion loved her music, singing, bible study and painting. Her greatest joy and blessing was her four children. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m., and again one hour prior to a Celebration of Life to be held at the Funeral Home on Friday September 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Family interment McTavish Cemetery, Tavistock. A special thank you to the staff and support services at Riverview Gardens for the love and care provided to Marion over the years.
