Obituary of Margaret Charlotte Poole

Poole, Margaret Charlotte, a resident of Chatham. Margaret Poole passed away at the Meadow Park Nursing Home, Chatham on Saturday September 22, 2012. She was born September 12, 1922 in Sarnia, Ontario, daughter of the late William A. & M. Effie (Murphy) Scott. After graduating from the University of Toronto in 1945, she completed her teaching credentials at the Ontario College of Education, Toronto. Marg taught in Walkerville before moving to Chatham in 1948, when she left education to join Bell Canada. There she met her future husband Don. She was a charter member of the Chatham Branch of the Canadian Federation of University Women. A member of the former Park Street United Church, she was active in UCW and served as an elder. Her passion for reading was lifelong, as was her devotion to the Detroit Tigers baseball team. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald E. Poole and their daughter Patricia Poole, sister-in-law Betty Blackburn of Romeo, Michigan and brother-in-law Gordon Poole of Scottsdale, Arizona. Friends will be received at St. Andrew’s United Church, 85 William St.,S., Chatham on Wednesday September 26, 2012 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow with interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery at a later date.
