Obituary of Betty Jean Speller

SPELLER: Betty Jean (nee Lister). It is with great sadness, that the family of Betty Speller announces her passing, with her loving family by her side at the LHSC Victoria Campus on December 28, 2012. Born in Chatham in 1940 to Walter Lister (1959) and Elizabeth (nee Wood) (1989). Wife of the late Clayton Speller (1995). Betty leaves behind her best friend and loving partner Alan Smith, Cayuga. Loving mother of the late Bill (1987), Mike (Suzanne), Amherstburg, Mary Beth (Brian), Blenheim and Paul, Amherstburg. Betty adored and was so proud of her 3 grandchildren, Erin of Blenheim, Brandon and Mark of Amherstburg. Loving sister of Diana Lewis (Frank) of Newbury and special aunt of their children Jennifer, Melissa (2008) and Deanna. Fondly remembered by Alan’s children Alma, Linda, Bryan and their families. Sister-in-law to John and Shirley Speller, Earl (2010) and Kitty Lou Speller, niece Janice, nephews Alexander & David and their families. Fondly remembered by many friends. Betty was involved with and served as past President of Blenheim Ladies Curling Club and Chatham La Sertoma for several years. In recent years, Betty enjoyed playing scrabble with the Scrabble Club, scrapbooking, gardening and bird watching with Alan in their favorite place, the back yard. Friends are invited to call at Cooper Funeral Home, 19 Talbot St. West, Jarvis on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and then at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park St., Blenheim on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Her family would like to invite friends and family to share in the celebration of her life at Charing Cross United Church, Charing Cross on Saturday, January 5 at 11 am. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim. Donations to London Health Sciences Centre or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
