Obituary of David Gordon Bonnett

BONNETT: David Gordon - A resident of Rondeau, and formerly of Chatham, David Bonnett passed away at the London Health Sciences Centre – University Hospital on Friday, July 19, 2013 at the age of 85. Born in Killam, Alberta, David was the son of the late Frederick William and Ethel Frances (Wittick) Bonnett. Beloved husband of 66 years to Betty Joy (Shulver) Bonnett. Loving father of Nancy and her husband David Medaglia of Edmonton, AB, Ronald Bonnett and his wife Gaye of Calgary, AB. Predeceased by his infant son Gordon. Proud grandfather of Shannon Horneman (Brock), Clio Bonnett, Zale Bonnett and Pierus Bonnett. Great-grandfather to Carmella Horneman. Dear brother of Jean Gilbert and the late Jack Bonnett. David joined the Canadian Technical Training Corps as a boy soldier in August of 1944. At age 18, he was transferred to the Royal Canadian Engineers in the Canadian Army Pacific Force Sixth Division just prior to V.J. Day. He was discharged in October of 1945. David was a member of the Church of the Advent, the Men’s Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #28 in Chatham and the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists. He retired from Navistar in 1982 after 36 years of service and worked as a Court Services Officer for 15 years. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street E., Ridgetown on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Church of the Advent, Ridgetown at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.
