Obituary of Marlene Juttens-Benoit
JUTTENS-BENOIT: Marlene L. A resident of Pain Court, Marlene Laura Juttens-Benoit died tragically as the result of a car accident on Sunday July 21, 2013. She was born on July 31, 1957 at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe, beloved daughter of Yolanda & Noël Juttens of Long Point. Predeceased by her brother Randy (1993). Beloved wife of Larry Benoit. Wonderful mother of Kathryn Blair, Nicole Blair & Tom Sylvain, and step-mother of Sarah & Steve DeCandido, Joshua & Megan Benoit, and Jason & Crystal Benoit. Cherished Memé to Aiden, Noah, Ben, Lucas, Evan, Payton, Matthew, and Austin. Daughter-in-law of Omer & Rita Benoit, and sister-in-law of Linda & Mike Wicks, Donna & Mike Waldram, and Carol & Marc Peltier. Fondly remembered by the Blair Family; James Blair Jr., James & Shirley Blair, Annette Blair, Jerome & Gail Blair, and the late Claudette Blair-Brablec. Godmother of Ryan Boros. Marlene started her career with Haldimand-Norfolk Regional Police as a dispatcher in Simcoe. Her career continued in Chatham, where she worked as a dispatcher with the Fire Department beginning in 1985, and then in 1997 became Chathams 1st Female Firefighter. She currently held the position of Fire Inspector with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, and recently finished her last exam with distinction. Marlene loved life! She and Larry owned a cottage on St. Josephs Island in Northern Ontario, where they were avid fishermen and hunters. They managed the Wallaceburg Animal Control Services, and she was also instrumental in fundraising for Pretty in Pink. Never giving up hope on anyone, she was in the process of helping to start a chapter of The Hoarders Coalition in Chatham. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-9:00 p.m. Members of the Fire Department will gather for a walk-thru on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. All are welcome to a Fire Department Memorial Service at the Funeral Home on Friday July 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. A private family procession will follow. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Marlenes life St. Philippe Hall in Grande Pointe from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Friday.
