Obituary of Leo Heyd

HEYD: Leo – A resident of Chatham, Leo Heyd passed away peacefully, with his family at his side at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Monday, August 5, 2013 at the age of 81. Born in Tilbury, Leo was the son of the late Fred and Lena (Audette) Heyd. Beloved husband of 55 years to Mary (nee Strong). Loving father of Donna Papineau (Michael) of Belle River, Linda Wilder (Pat) of Tecumseh and the late Mark Heyd (1995). Proud grandfather of five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dear brother to Louise Reaume (Tony) of Tecumseh. Predeceased by his siblings Jerry (Marion) Heyd (2006), Victor (Rachel) Heyd (1969), Oscar (Rella) Heyd (1972), Elmer (Millie) Heyd (1985), Cecile (Sid) Belanger (1973) and Theresa (Henry) Peck (1978). Brother-in-law to Theresa Tytgat (late George), Richard Strong, Marcella DeCook (late Joe), Bernie Strong (Ursula), Henry Strong (Geraldine), Alice Strong, Norma Strong, Cecile Strong, Annette Strong, Margaret Strong and Pauline Strong. Predeceased by his brothers-in-law James, Leonard, Peter, Charles, John and Harry. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Leo drove bus for Chatham Coach for 23 years where he met many lifelong friends. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Parish prayers will be held Wednesday at 7:30p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church, 490 St. Clair Street, Chatham at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 with Fr. Stanislaw Kuckiak and Fr. Frank Leslie concelebrating. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Chatham.
