Obituary of Gordon 'Pete' Arthur Anderson

ANDERSON: Gordon "Pete" Arthur. A resident of Chatham, Gordon "Pete" Anderson died at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Friday October 4, 2013 at the age of 91. He was born in Howard Township, son of the late Arthur & Ethel (Duddy) Anderson. Beloved husband of Joan (Campbell) Anderson. Dear father of James & his wife Jo Dee of R.R. # 3 Kent Bridge, and David & his wife Joanne of R.R. # 4 Thamesville. Loving grandpa of Kelly, Michelle, Hannah, and Samantha. Brother of Miriam Secord (late husband William) of Merlin, Dorothy Berry (late husband Raymond) of Westland, MI, Douglas & his wife Shirley, and Lawrence & his wife Glenda, all of Kent Bridge. Predeceased by his brother William & his wife Ruth, and sister Katherine & her husband Gordon Brisley. Uncle “Pete” to several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Gordon will be lovingly remembered by sisters-in-law Doris Anderson (late husband Fred) Mary Moffatt (late husband Gerald), and Kathryn Campbell; and brother-in-law Donald Campbell & his wife Janet. Predeceased by his brother-in-law Lloyd Campbell & his wife Gladys. Gordon was a farmer all his life, and was a long time member of St. John’s Botany United Church. Over the years he served as a Sunday School Superintendent, on the Board of Stewards and Trustees, and as an elder of the church. He was the Chairperson of the Official Board of St. Paul’s-Botany-Zion United Church Charge. Gordon was a life member of Tecumseh Sydenham Lodge No. 245 AF & AM, Thamesville. He also served on the board of the Fairfield Museum, and the Land Division Committee for the County of Kent. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Tecumseh Sydenham Lodge No. 245 AF & AM will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service Sunday evening at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday October 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Heather Scott and Rev. Bruce Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Botany Cemetery, Howard.
