Obituary of Kyle Frederick Kennedy

KENNEDY: Kyle Frederick – Surrounded by his family , Kyle lost his courageous battle with cancer at London Health Sciences Centre – Victoria Hospital on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the age of 88. Born and raised in Ridgetown, Kyle was the son of the late Frederick George & Margaret Edna (Campbell) Kennedy. He will be sadly missed by his wife Shirley, his children Anne and Jim, granddaughter Lauren and special four legged friend Koda. Survived by sister-in-law Jessie Welch-Cutler, brother-in-law Alan Varney (Audrey), and sister-in-law Mary Helen Verlaan (Bill). Also missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Kyle had a passionate love for all sports up until the end. He was scouted by the St Louis Cardinals to play professional baseball, played basketball and was part of the winning team for the Senior A Championships for Ontario. Upon returning home, after his service to the Royal Canadian Navy in World War II, he organized Little League Baseball, played and coached hockey and was a former Director and President of Ridgetown Golf and Country Club. He was a partner with his wife in Kennedy and Kennedy Real Estate for over 40 years. Kyle was a 68 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and a member of the Howard Lodge No. #391, Ridgetown and the MOCHA Shrine Club for over 60 years. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street E., Ridgetown on Friday, October 18, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Howard Lodge No. #391 AF & AM will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service on Friday at 6:45 p.m. A Legion Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Kyle’s life will be held at the Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 with Rev.
