Obituary of Helen Olga Hodgson

HODGSON, Helen Olga. Helen, a resident of Chatham, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the age of 91. Beloved wife to Robert. Loving mother of Linda Hatton (Janet) of Mitchell and Douglas & Mary Anne Hodgson of Chatham. Cherished grandmother of Matthew, Adam and David (Kristy) Hodgson. Dear sister of Annette Dratwa of Winnipeg and the late Marie Harrison, Anne Palady, John Penyk and William Penyk. Helen is survived by several nieces and nephews. Helen was a wife, mother, grandmother and friend and cherished her family. Helen’s existence was her family. She worked at the South Regional Centre for 9 years and was a member of the CWL. Helen loved to needlepoint, cook and garden. Her needlepoint work was displayed all throughout her home for family and friends to enjoy. Helen treasured her visits and long talks with her grandsons. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Parish Prayers will take place at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. followed by CWL prayers. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Ridgetown on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Martin Johnston as celebrant. Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Ridgetown. Donations in memory of Helen to Canadian Food for Children would be greatly appreciated by the family.
