Obituary of Catherine Cross

CROSS, Catherine Alice, It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Alice Cross (nee Joyce) of Orillia after a brief illness. Missing her always are her children Deborah (Orillia), Tom and his wife Patti (Thornhill), her grandchildren Bryan Leiher and Katie Cross, “the best” nieces June and Janet (predeceased) Gordon, chosen daughter Nancy Potter, her U.S. family the Gauklers, dear friends Cliff & Dorothy Scott, and many others. Waiting for her was her husband Norman J. Cross and her cherished sister Mary Gordon. Catherine was born in Dover Township and was a long time resident of Chatham. She was the recipient of a Governor General’s Award in 1992 for her volunteer work with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 28 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as Treasurer, President and Zone Commander. Catherine had a special place in her heart for the staff of the Orillia Fire Department. Cathy passed quietly, the way she would have wanted, and is in her words “happy and content”. Cremation has taken place.
