Obituary of John Gray Rankin

RANKIN: John Gray - A lifelong resident of Dover Centre, John Rankin passed away at his residence with his family at his side on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the age of 69. Born in Chatham, John was the son of the late Robert and Elva (Gray) Rankin. Beloved husband of 45 years to Brenda (nee Osborne). Loving father of Robert Rankin (Lisa) and Jonanne Rankin (Bob Johnson), both of Chatham. Proud grandfather of Will and Rosie Rankin. Dear brother of Lillian Kuchmy, Laurel Rankin, Lowell Rankin (Lynn) and Steven Rankin. Predeceased by his sister Myrna French (1982), and brothers Gregory Rankin (2006) and Scott Rankin (2013). Son-in-law of Donna Osborne. Brother-in-law to Judy Rankin and Sue Rankin. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. John was a quiet, hard-working man who farmed all of his life on the family farm. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 with the Rev. Kim Cooper officiating. Interment to follow at Owen Cemetery, Dover Township.
