Obituary of Caroline Marie Martens

MARTENS: Caroline Marie (nee De Cock)– A resident of Ridgetown, Caroline Martens passed away at her residence with her family at her side on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the age of 88. Born in Northwood, Ontario, Caroline was the daughter of the late Gustaaf and Germaine (De Gendt) De Cock. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Martens (2010). Dear mother of Madeline Vandeweghe and husband Bill of Blenheim, Joanne de Wit and husband Henk of Muirkirk, Rosalie Markham and husband Dale of London, Rene Martens and wife Sue of Ridgetown, Charles Martens of Blind River, Peter Martens and wife Barb of Ridgetown, Christine Casier and husband Terry of Blenheim, Lorraine McIntosh and husband Dave of Chatham, Agnes Bloxham and husband Cory of Chatham and Philip Martens and wife Brandi of Chatham. Proud grandmother of 31 grandchildren. Great-grandmother of 17 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Mary Deprez of Kent Bridge. Predeceased by her two brothers Frank De Cock and Joseph De Cock. Sister-in-law to Lisa De Cock of Chatham, Marcella De Cock of Ridgetown, Sister Thecla Martens of London and Mary Moir of Ilderton. Predeceased her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Corrie De Cock, Charles Deprez, Rose and Hector Landuyt and Don Moir. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Caroline was an active member at the St. Michael’s CWL and the Ridgetown Senior’s Centre. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street E., Ridgetown on Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held on Friday at 6:45 p.m. with CWL prayers to follow. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church, 26 George Street, Ridgetown at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 with Fr. Mariaraj Irudayam as celebrant.
