Obituary of Donald Ivan Deacon

DEACON: Donald Ivan – A resident of Ridgetown, Don Deacon passed away peacefully with his family at his side at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of 52 to years to Ruth (nee Fairthorne). Loving and cherished father of Duane Deacon (Heidi Hutchinson) of London, Brenda Deacon (Brian Harris) of London, Kevin Deacon (fiancée Nicole Wharram) of Chatham and Susan Goldsmith (husband Brad) of Chatham. Proud grandfather of Ashleigh, Ryan and Kyle. Survived by his brother Clayton Deacon. Predeceased by his brothers William, Wayne and Ronald. Dearly missed by his four-legged companion Wade. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, extended family and his coffee group. Don retired from Eaton Yale after 29 years of service. He has called Ridgetown his home for over 40 years, and will be remembered as a devoted Leaf’s fan. A special thanks to the nursing staff at the CM2 for their care and compassion. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street E., Ridgetown on Sunday, APRIL 6, 2014 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, APRIL 7, 2014 with Rev. Paul Shaw and Pastor Don MacMillan officiating. Cremation to follow with a private family interment to be held at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
