Obituary of Baron 'Barry' Fred Ontong

ONTONG, Baron ‘Barry’ Fred, a resident of Chatham, passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the age of 74. Born in Cape Town, South Africa. Beloved husband to the late Kathleen Ontong (2013). Dear brother of Leslie, Lorraine and Cynthia, of South Africa. Cousin to Claudette, of South Africa. Barry leaves profound sadness in the hearts of his family and friends, including the Ellman and LeRoux families. Barry had a passion for cars and auto mechanics. He was a proud owner of several classics. Barry showed amazing courage, patience and optimism as he bravely battled cancer for several years. Barry retired after working at several GM dealerships in town. Family to receive friends at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Barry would be appreciated.
