Obituary of Richard Jerome Gentille

GENTILLE: Richard Jerome, Sr. – A resident of Ridgetown, Richard Gentille, Sr. passed away at Copper Terrace Long Term Care Home on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the age of 90. Born in Urbana, Illinois, Richard was the son of the late Augustus and Alma (Pruett) Gentille. Preceded in death by his first wife Clara Mays and his son Richard Gentille, Jr. (March 31, 2014). Survived by his daughter Janice Gentille-Price (George) of Chatham. Father-in-law to Jane Gentille of Ridgetown. Proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also missed by many nieces, nephews and special companion Shirley Van Horn of Chatham. Richard was in the U.S. Airforce in World War II , and served as a parachute rigger in England. He was a member of both the U.S. and Canadian Legions. He worked alongside his son Richard Jr. in the carpet business, retiring at 79. A private family service will be held at a later date.
