Obituary of Dave Johnston

JOHNSTON: Dave A resident of Chatham, Dave Johnston died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday May 11, 2014 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. He was born in Oshawa, 71 years ago, son of the late Roy & Florence (Drew) Johnston. Beloved husband of Diane Johnston for over 50 years. Loving father of Ray & Heather Johnston, and Shari & Mark Glassford, all of Chatham. Proud grandfather of Erika and Nicole Johnston, Josh Dicaire, Chris, Amber, and Ashley Glassford, and great grandfather of Lucas and Cameron. Dear brother of Darlene Varga (Jack DaSilva) of Chatham, Deb Stuenenberg (late Bert) of St. Williams, and predeceased by his brother Don Johnston. He will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Dave made his career as an auto mechanic, retiring from his own business “Johnston’s Auto Service” on Thames Street in 2006. He volunteered as a coach and convenor with Chatham Minor Hockey for over 20 years. Cremation has taken place.
