Obituary of Helen Ruth Gilbert

GILBERT: Helen Ruth (nee Near)– A resident of Chatham, Helen Gilbert passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the age of 96. Born in Merlin, Helen was the daughter of the late Leslie and Ruth (Simpson) Near. Beloved wife of the late Fred Gilbert (2003). Loving mother of Brent Gilbert (Adrienne) of Palmerston. Proud grandmother of Kristen, Michelle (Anthony) and Ashley. Great-grandmother of Noah. Predeceased by her sister Norma Ingram (2003). Also missed by many nieces, nephews and their families as well as friends and extended family. Helen was a long-time member of the St. Andrew’s Auxiliary. She will be remembered for the love she had for her family. A Graveside Service will be held for Helen at Shank’s Cemetery, Romney Township on at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 with the Rev.
