Obituary of Ray W. Summerfield

SUMMERFIELD, Ray W. A resident of RR#1 Charing Cross, Ray W. Summerfield, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the age of 85. Born in Raleigh Township, son of the late John & Margaret Summerfield. Beloved husband for 60 years to M. Louise Summerfield (Russell). Loving father to Wesley Summerfield of Chatham, Kathy Summerfield of Blenheim, Terry Summerfield and his wife Barb of Windsor, and the late Alexander Summerfield (1992). Grandfather to Aaron, Jasmine, Melissa, Bradley, Nick, Alyssa, Corey, and great-grandfather of 10. Brother to Boyd Summerfield of Blenheim, the late Don Summerfield, the late Cleeve Summerfield, brother-in-law to Marie & John Whittington of RR#1 Charing Cross, and the late June & Peter Petcoff. Survived by several nieces and nephews. During Ray’s 60 years of farming he also worked at W.G. Thompsons for 14 years, he was a member of Charing Cross United Church where he served on several boards, and was a member of the Kent Klodhoppers. Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at Charing Cross United Church on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Margaret Trapnell officiating. Interment to follow in Pardoville-Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ray Summerfield to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Charing Cross United Church Choir would be appreciated.
