Obituary of Gwen Summerscales

SUMMERSCALES: Gwen A resident of Thamesville, and formerly of Grand Bend, Gwen Summerscales died peacefully at Park Street Place in Dresden on Thursday June 12, 2014 at the age of 90. She was born in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England on July 1, 1923, daughter of the late Thomas & Constance (Umpleby) Sissons. Beloved wife of the late Alan Summerscales (2003). Loving mother of Janet & Lester Scott of Thamesville, Chris Summerscales of Perth, W. Australia, and Robert Summerscales & Candice Slade of Edmonton. Cherished grandmother of Becky Johnstone (Paul), of Chatham; Ryan Foster (Angie), of Chatham; Chad and Devan Summerscales of Brandon, Manitoba; Ian Chambers, Claire, Hannah, and Harriet, all of Australia. Proud great grandmother of 15 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Audrey Miles and Mary Atkinson, both in England, and the late John Sissons and Margaret Dyson. Gwen was retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chatham. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday June 16, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Cremation will follow.
