Obituary of Arthur C. Manning

MANNING: Arthur C. - A long-time resident of R.R. # 2 Highgate, Arthur Manning passed away at the London Health Sciences Centre – University Hospital with his family at his side on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the age of 86. Arthur was the son of the late Gordon and Sarah (Clark) Manning. He was born and raised, and farmed all of his life on the family farm in Orford Township. On June 24, 1961, Arthur married Alice K. (nee Broom) and passed away just 10 days prior to their 53rd wedding anniversary. Loving father to Douglas Manning (Dawn) of Tupperville, June Nussey (Keith) of Ingersoll, Carol Verstraete (Peter) of Bothwell and Mary Manning of Courtright. Proud papa/grandfather of Clark, Georgia and Sarabeth Manning; Holly and Kyle Nussey; Maurice and Kelly Verstraete; Emily Levidis-Moore (Brian), Ashley and Alison Myers. Great-grandfather to Landyn Moore. Arthur was the last surviving member of his family, predeceased by his siblings Ruth Stirling (2009), Frank Manning (2009) and Verna Todd (1983). Predeceased by his in-laws Telfor Stirling, Jean Manning and Wilbert Todd. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Predeceased by his two nephews Lenard Stirling and William Todd. In his early years, Arthur was a member of 4H and Jr. Farmers. He enjoyed heavy horses, black Percherons in particular. He plowed at local and international plowing matches. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street E., Ridgetown on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 with Rev.
