Obituary of Eleanor Victoria Crewe-Fisher

CREWE-FISHER: Eleanor Victoria (Brush) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Victoria (Brush) Crewe-Fisher in her 88th year. Born in Harwich Township in 1926, the daughter of the late Curtis Benjamin Brush and Lillian Evelyn (Doey) Brush. She is predeceased by her beloved husband John Lloyd Crewe (1988) and survived by her second husband Erwin Fisher. Also predeceased by her only sibling Evelyn Miklos and one nephew. Left to mourn her loss are her children Jane (Richard, 2009) Rumble, Judith (Lynn) Girty and Curtis (Lori) Crewe. Remembered with love by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. There are also 9 nieces and one nephew. Eleanor taught elementary school for more than three decades, most notably 33 years as the grade one teacher at Merlin Area Public School. She is remembered fondly by all of her students; many will remember her bird nest collection in their classroom, as Mrs. Crewe was an avid bird watcher. She was one of the best of a generation who survived the depression and war years. She was a model of integrity, devotion, sacrifice and dignity. Eleanor was a member and past Noble Grand of the Comet Rebekah Lodge #97 and the South Buxton (St. Andrew’s) congregation. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Rebekah Lodge Service will be held on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014 with Pastor Eric Skillings officiating. Private family interment at Erie Cemetery, Wheatley at a later date.
