Obituary of Edward Albert 'Ed' Schmitchen

SCHMITCHEN: Edward Albert ‘Ed’ – A resident of Wasaga Beach, Ed Schmitchen passed away at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital on Monday, September 1, 2014 at the age of 64. Born in Chatham-Kent, Edward was the son of Mary Schmitchen and the late Edward Schmitchen (1996). Beloved husband of 33 years to Rebecca Shea. Loving father of Yolanda (Michael Slater). Proud grandfather of Max. Dear brother to Bob (Debbie), Valerie (Matthew Pill) and Veronica. Predeceased by his brothers Dan (2005) and Christopher (2010). Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends, extended family and his close group of Givers. Ed played in the East Kent Rural Hockey League in Ridgetown and Blenheim for many years. He also enjoyed working at the Ag School in Ridgetown. For the last three years, Ed has thoroughly enjoyed playing with his grandson. A Memorial Service will be held at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street E., Ridgetown at 11:00a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014. Cremation has taken place.
