Obituary of Tena Schinkel

SCHINKEL, Tena Tena shared Christ love and peace. Her task is done now and it is time to receive her reward. A resident of Chatham and formerly of Essex County, Tena Schinkel, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the age 79. Born in Diever, Holland on June 18, 1935, daughter of the late Jan & Tryntje Mulder. Tena immigrated to Canada in 1956, she met her husband Herman Schinkel and the two were married on September 5, 1959. Loving mother of Teresa Mulder (Neil) of Blenheim, Tim Schinkel (Marian) of Chatham, John Schinkel (Lori) of Chatham, Richard Schinkel (Linda) of Chatham, Elizabeth Schinkel (Laura) of Montreal, and David Schinkel (Linda) of Chatham. Forever remembered by her grandchildren Katie, Cory, Danielle, Jessica, Thomas, Matthew, Kevin, Keri, Brianne, Lindsey, Julie, Johann, Kira, Larissa, and her great-grandchildren Lila, Garrett, Caitlyn, Lauren, Liam, Graeam, Elija, Madisyn, Abilee, and Josey. Survived by her siblings Henk Mulder, Jan Mulder (Angreth), Johannes Mulder (Carolien), Janny Hendriks (Johannes). Predeceased by sister Janet Hessels and her husband Gerald. Always remembered by her extended Schinkel family, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Tena & Herman were the founders of Schinkel’s Gourmet Meats. She was a member of the Evangel Community Church, Gideon Bibles, assisted in Palliative Care Groups in Chatham, and travelled countless times to Cuba to perform missionary work. Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Friday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Evangel Community Church, 76 Sandys Street, Chatham with Pastor Bill Pipke officiating.
