Obituary of Henry Alexander Cochrane

Cochrane, Henry Alexander “Eric” 1931 – 2014 Passed away on Sunday October 12, 2014 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, age 83. Eric passes to join his late wife Elizabeth Orr nee Harland, daughter Dorothy Schulze, parents Henry Cunningham Campbell Cochrane and Mary-Ann nee Johnston and his brother Tom Cochrane. Eric is survived by his daughters Beverley Southall and Michele (Yancy) Eddie. Grandfather of Amanda (Scott) Masters and Ashley (Robert) Stewart; Christopher (Joanna) Smith, Vanessa (Chris) McHugh, Brandon Southall and Keegan Southall; and Taylor Eddie and Paige Eddie. Great-grandfather of Holden, Grayson, Isabel, Madeline, Jack, Harry, Penelope, Ava, Chance and Faith. Father-in-law of Michael (Connie) Schulze. Brother of Margaret (Ernie) Ruddock. Brother-in-law of Stella Cochrane. Will also be greatly missed by his furry friend Tucker. Eric was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland until he immigrated to Canada in 1966. Eric began his career with Avro Canada and retired from McDonnell Douglas where his career highlights included assisting in the development of the AVRO-CF105-ARROW fighter plane. Eric enjoyed his retirement with Lil in Barrie, ON and upon her passing moved to Chatham, ON. Eric enjoyed playing golf, flying fighter jets on his computer, and the fellowship with his church buddies. Eric was Bampa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren and he took great pride in their life journeys. He will be missed dearly. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday October 14, 2014 from 7-8pm. A Candlelight Funeral Service will follow at 8pm in the funeral home. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Eric may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, OSPCA or Outreach for Hunger – Chatham Food Bank and may be arranged through the funeral home.
