Obituary of George Morrow

MORROW, George A resident of Chatham, George Morrow, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the age of 89. Born July 24, 1925 in East Lothian, Scotland. Devoted husband of Katherine Morrow for 63 years. Dear father of Donald Morrow and wife Penny of Chatham. Loving Grandfather to Nicole and husband Chris Stronks and Scott Morrow. Special Great Grandfather to Charlotte and Emily Stronks. George immigrated to Canada in 1948. Survived by sister Jean McGregor of England, sister Margaret and husband Percy Smith of St. Mary’s, sister-in-law Ruth McNeil of Chatham. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Alexander and Janet Morrow, brother Andrew Morrow, sister-in-law Maisie Morrow and brothers-in-law Alex McGregor and Keith and Robert & Mabel McNeil. George was a retired police officer with CSX Railway and was a life member of the Chatham-Kent Police Association and Interpol. During George’s retirement years he kept busy gardening, cutting grass, shovelling driveways and offering help to his family and friends. He enjoyed his routine of visiting with local businesses and sharing coffee and a few jokes. He will be remembered by many for his sense of humour and his generous nature. Special thanks to the staff of Meadowpark Nursing Home for their gentle, patient care of George during his short time there and for their compassion during his final days. The family would also like to thank Dr. Park and Cherylynn Parry for their ongoing friendship and care. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of a Funeral Service, a Gathering will be held at the McKinlay Reception Centre, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to celebrate George’s life.
