Obituary of Mary Jane McGuire

McGuire, Mary Jane on October 21, 2014 at Riverview Gardens, Chatham at 101 years of age. She was the daughter of Samuel James Stewart and Agnes Douglas McCormick. Mrs. McGuire was born and lived most of her life in Chatham-Kent. Her husband, Beverly McGuire, predeceased in 1990. Survived by stepson, Patrick McGuire of Ridgetown and stepdaughter, Patricia and husband Jack McFarlane of Chatham, cousins and devoted friends. Sincere appreciation is extended to Dr. Stephen Jones for his ongoing and compassionate care. From July 2007 until early May 2014, Mrs. McGuire was a resident at St. Andrew’s Residence, Chatham, and from mid May 2014, until her time of death, Mrs. McGuire was a resident at Riverview Gardens, Chatham. The family wishes to thank the staff of both St. Andrew’s Residence and Riverview Gardens for their care and concern. Mrs. McGuire was a retired executive secretary from Union Gas Limited. A lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, Chatham, she was an active participant in many church groups. She was a lifetime member of the Municipal Chapter of I.O.D.E. and a former member and Director of the Dick Crawford Chapter I.O.D.E. Cremation will be followed by a funeral service on Monday October 27, 2014 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham at 12 noon with Rev. Michael Maroney officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. – 12 Noon. A private, family interment will be conducted at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham at a later date. Memorial gifts in memory of Jane to St. Andrew’s Residence Foundation, or First Presbyterian Church, Chatham, or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
