Obituary of Shirley Sanford

Sanford: Shirley L. A resident of Chatham, Shirley Sanford died peacefully at Riverview Gardens in Chatham on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the age of 96. She was born in Crandall, Manitoba, daughter of the late Morgan and Myrtle (Borland) Johnson. Beloved wife the late Frederick Sanford (2004). Loving mother of Douglas & Joanne Sanford, and grandmother of Zachary Frederick Sanford. Dear sister of Stuart Johnson and his wife Donna of Winnipeg, and the late Morgan, and Garth Johnson. Shirley came to Chatham in 1947, and taught school here until her retirement in 1981. She and Fred were longtime members of the former Park Street United Church, and she was President of Orchestra London-Chatham Branch for 23 years. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Gabriella Cutler of St. Andrew's United Church. Shirley's urn will be interred in Kingsville at a later date. Donations made in memory of Shirley to the Chatham Concert Band Association are welcomed.
