"Our Family and Hearts are Broken" MAIRS, George "Ronald" 71, son of the late James & Edythe (McKerrall) Mairs of Chatham Township. Dearest husband of 50 years to Juliette (Gagner) Mairs. Father of his awesome children Janine Bedford (Doug), and Paul Mairs (Tami). A loving grandfather to Wayne Bedford (Kristen), Jacqueline Bedford, Brendan Mairs, and Peter Mairs. Great-grandfather of Kennedy. Survived by his siblings Patricia Depencier (John), Gordon Mairs, and Carol Mairs. Ron was a proud member of Standardbred Canada, the Knights of Columbus 1412, a past 4-H member and leader, a coach of many youth sports teams, and a lifelong farmer. Ron was a proud spectator of his children and grandchildrens activities. He has had a long time passion for his racehorses, was a long standing owner, trainer, and driver for 41 years. He was a fixture at the racetrack with his business partner "Jules". As per Ron's wishes a Gathering of Ron's friends and family to take place at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. A special thank-you to the nursing staff at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for your care and compassion during Ron's illness.
