Obituary of Henryka Wszol
WSZOL, Henryka (nee Swiech) - A long-time resident of Blenheim peacefully passed away with her family by her side at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Friday March 20, 2015, at the age of 90. Predeceased by her husband in 1966. Henryka was born in Poland, one of four children, to Franciszca and Aleksander Swiech. At the age of 15 during the 2nd World War, she was ripped from her home and taken to Germany to work on a farm. After the war she met and married Joseph in Germany and moved to England where her husband was transferred to, with the Polish army. They immigrated to Canada in 1948. Henryka worked alongside her husband on their farms. On the off season she worked at the British Leaf Tobacco Factory. In 1966 following the death of her husband she worked at the Canadiana Nursing Home in housekeeping and patient care until she retired. She enjoyed many years camping at Rondeau Shores. She loved to play games and was a fierce competitor. In her later years her passions included her family, great conversations, shopping and going to the Casino. Mom loved to tinker in her massive vegetable garden and many flower gardens around her home and until last year she would help cut the grass on her riding lawnmower with her farmers hat on. The love of our mother is a gift that we will cherish the rest of our lives and we are honoured to be her children. She is truly loved and deeply missed. Our great memories will stay with us forever. Loving mother of Irene Malott (Jim) of Chatham, Liz Sowinski (Stan) of Chatham, Richard Wszol of Blenheim (predeceased in 2011), Krys Papps of Blenheim, Dianne Forsyth (Jerry) of Blenheim and Fred Wszol of Blenheim.
