Obituary of Alfred Costello

Costello: Alfred Vincent Peacefully, surrounded by his family, Alfred Costello passed away on April 3, 2015 at Fairfield Park Nursing Home in Wallaceburg. He was born in Ireland, son of the late Martin & Mary Costello. Cherished husband of Mary, and loving father of Una (Brian) of Goderich and Jim (Julie Anne) of Chatham. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Alexander, James, and Joseph Whitely, Emma and Ian Costello. Also survived by extended family in Ireland and abroad. Alf was born and raised in Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland. Although he emigrated to Canada in 1958, he remained a proud Irish-Canadian throughout his life. As a former psychiatric nurse, physiotherapist, and Director of Rehabilitation at the Goderich Psychiatric Hospital, Alf led a life of service to others. He was a sports enthusiast with a particular interest in golf. Sincere gratitude is extended to Dr. Perkin and the staff at Fairfield Park Nursing Home for the exemplary level of compassion and care given to Alf and his family. A private funeral service will be held in Alf's memory. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society (for Research) are welcomed, and may be arranged by contacting the Funeral Home.
