Obituary of Helen Gordon

GORDON: Helen (nee Verbeem) - A resident of Chatham, Helen Gordon passed away at the Maple City Residence with her family at her side on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the age of 98. Born in Goes, Zeeland, The Netherlands, Helen was the daughter of the late Bert and Elizabeth (Thijsse) Verbeem. Beloved wife of 55 years to the late Ross Gordon (March 6, 1996). Dear mother to her three sons, Dan (Patricia) Gordon of Gilmour, Sonny (Janine) Gordon of Chatham and Donny (Diane) Gordon of London, and her three daughters Lynda (Doug) Couture of Chatham, Tanna (Phil) Van Dolder of Chatham and Louisa "Snooker" (Jim) Frederick of Howell, MI, USA. Proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren. Predeceased by one grandson. Great-grandmother to several great-grandchildren. Sister to Gill Verbeem of Chatham, Nellie Rockx of Tillsonburg, Mary (Joe) Sevigny of R.R. #1 Chatham and Coba Lebbrecht of R.R. # 3 Kent Bridge. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home,459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be held on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 490 St. Clair Street, Chatham at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015 with Fr. Wojciech Baryski celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Chatham. Donations made in memory of Helen to the Maple City Residence would be appreciated.
