Obituary of Mary Alberta Berner

BERNER: Mary Alberta (nee Doan) – A resident of Rodney, and formerly of Ridgetown, Mary Berner passed away at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital with her family at her side on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the age of 78. Born in Aldborough Township, Elgin County, Mary was the daughter of the late Norman and Leita (McKenzie) Doan. Beloved wife of the late Howard Berner (December, 1985). Loving and caring mother of Roger Schoonjans (Joanne) of Ridgetown, Debra Young (Gerald) of Nova Scotia, Douglas Schoonjans (Cindy) of Palmyra, Yvette White (Chris) of Nova Scotia, David Schoonjans (Rita) of Orford Township, Cary Schoonjans (Heather) of Chatham, Lisa Rose (Doug) of Blenheim and Pamela King (Ryan) of London. Mary is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she cherished dearly. Sister to Morris Doan (Elaine) of Florida, Florence Boggs-Martin (late Jack) of Highgate and Patricia Webb (Jim) of Halifax, N.S. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Mary will be remembered for her caring nature and her role as the caregiver of her family and friends. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Trinity Anglican Cemetery.
