Obituary of John E. 'Jack' Cowan

COWAN: John Edward (Jack) - Passed away peacefully with family at his side at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus in his 90th year on Friday, July 17, 2015. Loving husband of 64 years to June (nee Tansley). John was born in Elgin County but was so very proud to be a Blenheimite where he and June raised their family: John & Kerry, Jim & Andrea, Garry & Kim, Elaine & Garry Warriner, Patti and Doyle Brush, all of Blenheim and Carolyn and Dave Zenger of Heidelberg, ON. John will be greatly missed by his 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was the last surviving child of John & Clara Cowan (Kaufman), predeceased by 5 brothers and 2 sisters and 1 great grandchild. He is survived by sisters-in-law Kay Cowan and Irene Cowan and numerous nieces and nephews. John's unwavering faith guided him through his life's journey. He was proud to have worked for over 40 years on the railroad but gained even greater enjoyment as a very active member of many Blenheim and Community groups with a focus on kids and healthy activities. Family and friends were always his greatest pleasures. The Cowan family invite friends for visitation at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Monday July 20, 2015 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. A Funeral Service for John will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Martin Johnston officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim.
