Obituary of Don Steele

STEELE, Donald Donald Franklin Steele, 84, of Chatham, Ontario passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 1, 2015. He was born March 28, 1931 in Dawn Township to the late Franklin Leslie Steele and Alma Belle Steele (Carr). He married Margaret Ann Cragg in Dresden, Ontario on December 8, 1955. Donald is survived by his wife Margaret; his 3 sons, Michael and his wife Erin (Ryan) of Chatham, Mark of Ridgetown, James of Chatham, his daughter Debbie and her husband Greg Presant of St. Thomas, his grandchildren, Justin, Stephanie, Christi, Kyle, Joel and Haley, and his sister Carol Ann Prime and husband Bill, sister in law Lillian Steele (Sayers) and several nieces and nephews. Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Franklin Leslie and Alma Belle Steele, his brothers Lorne Douglas and Gary Allen, his daughter in law, Betsy Steele (Barton), and his granddaughter, Shelby Dawn Presant. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Riverview Gardens for the love and care given to Don during his time there. Memorial Visitation will held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 2:00 -4:00 pm and 7:00 -9:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at McKinlay Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Tiffin officiating. Private Interment of Cremated Remains will take place at Maple Leaf Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the O.S.P.C.A Chatham-Kent.
