Obituary of Laurin Ann 'Laurie' Stanley

STANLEY: Laurin Ann 'Laurie' (nee Scanlan) - A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Harrow, Laurin Stanley passed away peacefully at home, with her family and friends by her side on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the age of 55. Born in Chatham, Laurin was the daughter of the late Bill and Velma (nee Laurin) Scanlan. Cherished wife of 35 years to Scott. Loving mother of Michelle DeHoey (Tim) of Chatham and Christopher Stanley (Jen) of Corunna. Proud grandmother of Aislyn, Aleaya and Aubrey DeHoey and Logan Stanley. Dear sister to Chuck Scanlan (Bev) of LaSalle. Daughter-in-law to Audrey and the late Harold Stanley of Woodslee. Sister-in-law to Bonnie and Dave Robinson of Woodslee. Dear aunt to Meghan, Spencer and Mitchell Scanlan and Dane and Jordyn Robinson. Laurin will also be greatly missed by many friends and extended family. Laurin enjoyed her time working as a nurse at Leamington Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital and Copper Terrace. Most recently, she worked alongside her husband at Scott Stanley Insurance - a work partnership they shared for over 20 years. Laurin's greatest love was her family, and she especially cherished her time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, motorcycling, cooking, golfing, decorating and her time spent in Florida. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 145 Victoria Ave, Chatham at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 with Fr. Jim Higgins celebrant. Many thanks to her special friend and caregiver Deb Knight and her dedicated and caring nurse Sue Arnold for their excellent care and compassion. Thanks also to Dr. David Sullivan, Dr. John Leigh, Dr. Stephen Welch and Laurin's "girls" at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Oncology Unit. Thanks for the overwhelming support from her many friends and family during her illness.
