Obituary of Elsie Winifred May Manchester

MANCHESTER: Elsie Winifred May (nee Downes) - A resident of Windsor, Elsie Manchester passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with family at her side on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the age of 90. Born on February 26, 1925, Elsie was the daughter of the late Wilfred (1965) and Mary (1993) Downes. Predeceased by Gordon Manchester, Sidney, B.C. (1983), father of her children, as well as her brother William Downes (2005) and her sister Mary Leighr (2010). Cherished mother of Sybil of Windsor and Louisa (Dave) of Blenheim. Sister-in-law to Joan Downes and the late Donald Leighr. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. As per Elsie’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. She wanted to leave this life the same as she tried to live it - with as little fuss as possible. She was a respected worker in the print industry and then volunteered for many years at the Lung Association in Windsor.
