Obituary of Alma 'Corinne' Harris

HARRIS: Alma 'Corinne' (nee Handsor) - A resident of Chatham, Corinne Harris passed away at her residence on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the age of 82. Born in Dover Township, Corinne was the daughter of Alex and Sylvia (Davis) Handsor. Beloved wife of the late Tom Harris (1998). Dear sister to Kathleen Handsor-Solomon (James) of Dresden. Predeceased by her sister Barbara Lucille Austin and her brother Everett Handsor. Sister-in-law to Wilfred Austin, Whitney and Joyce Harris and children Whitney Jr, Kevin and Lisa. Proud aunt of Peggy Tomby (Albert Coppe), Susan Solomon, James Solomon, Jr., Patty Melo (Jorge), Paul Solomon (Wendy) and Sherry Sims. Also missed by her Aunt Dorothy Patterson, as well as her great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and extended family. Predeceased by niece Lisa Austin. Corinne worked as an operator at Bell Canada for over 35 years, and eventually retired from Union Gas after many years of service. She was an avid genealogist and enjoyed baking. She was also an active member at First Baptist Church, Chatham for many years. Corinne loved baseball and was a proud Toronto Blue Jays fan. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street Chatham, on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Albert Lambkin officiating. Interment to follow at Dresden Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Corinne to the Canadian Cancer Society or the C.N.I.B. would be appreciated.
