McKinnon, Rita It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rita McKinnon (nee Pitre) at home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at the age of 75. Beloved wife of the late Ronald McKinnon. Devoted mother of Gisèle Dickieson (Brian) of Barrie, Julie Cordasco (Fabrizio) of Burlington, Gayle Potter (George) of Hamilton, and Janice McKinnon Cantin (Mike) of LaSalle. Cherished Mémère and Nana to Megan, Bradley Dickieson, Monica, Andrea Cordasco, Michelle, Andrew Potter, the late Ray McKinnon Dupuis, Natalie, Paige Dupuis, Sophia, Jack Cantin. Dear sister of the late Alice Brais (Pierre), Maurice Pitre (Ghislaine), Raymond Pitre (Noëlla), Huguette Goegan (Richard), André Pitre (Kathy), Bernard Pitre (Sylvianne). Forever remembered by many nieces, nephews, and to the many lives she touched. Dear friend to Richard Pouget. Rita taught French as a first language throughout Ontario for over 30 years, ending her career at École St. Philippe, Grande Pointe in 1996. She was an active member at St. Agnes Catholic Church where she sang in the choir. As a member of the Active Lifestyle Centre she hosted many bus trips and she enjoyed participating in many activities at the centre. The family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Vigil Prayers at 6:45 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 52 Croydon Street, Chatham on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Jim Higgins as celebrant. The family will also receive friends at the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent Street, Sudbury, Ontario on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. when Words of Remembrance will be shared. A Family Interment Service will take place at Park Lawn Cemetery, Sudbury at a later date. Those wishing to leave an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Lung Association or the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
