Obituary of John Van Dyk

VAN DYK: John - A resident of Blenheim, John Van Dyk passed away at the Blenheim Community Village on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the age of 81. Born in Wommels, Friesland, The Netherlands, John was the beloved husband of the late Clara (nee Bakker) (2004). Father of Theresa Van Dyk of Blenheim, Peter Van Dyk of Blenheim, Jim Van Dyk (Janet) of Blenheim, Jack Van Dyk (Brenda Simpson) of Blenheim and Mike Van Dyk (Connie Authier) of Charing Cross. Proud grandfather of Mechell Shaw (Rod), Clinton Van Dyk; Geremy Van Dyk, Max, Van Dyk, Alex Van Dyk, Zac Van Dyk; Danielle Swackhammer, Karrie Groenenberg (Kent), Hailey Van Dyk (Jordan Lindsay), Mitchell Van Dyk and Kiera Van Dyk. Great-grandfather of Andrew Groenenberg, Abbygayle Groenenberg and Noah Lindsay. John was the last surviving member of his family. He is predeceased by his three brothers and one sister in The Netherlands. John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to fish in Lake Erie with his family. John was a animal lover, and had a soft spot for his beagles. He retired from Eaton Yale after over 28 years of service. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Friday from 7:00 - 9:00p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015 with Rev. Bill Terris officiating. Cremation to follow with a private family interment to be held at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
